Born and raised in the Northwest

As a young man growing up in the region played a major roll in my character and thought process. My mother worked graveyard shifts at an Albertson’s in order for us to afford an apartment on the lower west side of Magnolia. We were never raised with much but through the kindness and good nature of those who were also living in our area we were able to make it by through my mother building relationships with customers and receiving non official charitable donations. My mother paid for my brothers sports activities and I was just along for the ride. At my mothers side at every turn looking to be the observer and take in everything that this region had to offer. My mother had a long standing history with bars like The Tin Hat in Ballard and would often times take us to places like Green lake and Fremont so we could know what it was to be apart of the bustling culture that was to be the people in our region. We would go to Archie Mcphee’s often and find ourselves looking at what strange characters also enjoyed taking in the wacky yet attractive culture that was being enabled by the odd folk who loved to embrace such a place. We would attend all parades and fairs that we could and there was few weekends that my mother wouldn’t take the time when she could to take us out and expose us to the region.
